MOTO Processing
What is a mail order/telephone order (MOTO) merchant account?
Your account is considered a mail order account where the majority of credit card transactions are processed when the customer and the credit card are not present. This means that the merchant manually key enters the customer's credit card information on a credit card terminal, an online virtual terminal, or a web site shopping cart.
Why are the rates and fees higher for a MOTO account than they are for a retail account?
MOTO accounts are different from retail accounts in the fact that the customer is not present at the time of the sale. This is the reason for the higher risk on MOTO accounts.
